First performed by the CBC Vancouver Radio Orchestra, with Owen Underhill. Commissioned by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. Subsequently performed by the Austrian Radio Philharmonic, with Arturo Tamayo, and the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony Orchestra, with Daniel Warren. Ranked third in the world (recommended work) at the 1997 International Rostrum of Composers (UNESCO, Paris).
